Abstract

Although rare, in nonwhite populations, acral melanoma is the most prevalent type of melanoma in Asia, Latin America, Africa, and the Middle East. In Japan, acral melanoma accounts for approximately 50% of all melanomas, and about 10% of the population in Japan presents with acral nevus.
