Abstract
The protein–mineral interactions, the influence of basement membranes and lipid bilayers, the events during cell secretion and exocytosis, and other mechanisms discussed in this book are late stages in the regulation of biomineralization There are, however, many earlier regulatory processes such as the action of transcription factors (Hox proteins) and associated microRNA.
