Abstract

Like many others, this writer has been preoccupied with the quest for a mutually acceptable resolution of the Arab–Israel protracted conflict for half a century. Some attempts to generate a way out of the impasse are discussed in this chapter: 1972—in the concluding chapter of the author’s book, The Foreign Policy System of Israel; 1975—during a lengthy seminar with Egyptian intellectuals associated with Egypt’s premier think tank on politics and strategy; 1975—direct involvement in the formation of the Israel Council for an Israel–Palestine peace, dedicated to a two-state solution, with Israel and Palestine as peaceful neighbors; 2001, 2016—author and coauthor of “Principles and Proposals for Negotiating Peace and Conflict Resolution.”
