Abstract

The Census 2011 lays bare the aggregate concern that the population control programme of the day needs to address with focused attention. This has assumed enormous importance now because of the absence of any population policy right at the moment after the expiry of NPP 2000 at 2010. Usually, the population policy of any country undergoes generational changes in keeping with the changing status of its demographic profile; India is, however, still to have any new population policy after 2011. Be that as it may, the country needs to address the demographic challenges that opened up subsequent to publication of the final report of the Census 2011.
