Abstract
This chapter deals with the equipment used in hyperbaric medicine. Main components are hyperbaric chambers of various types, e.g., monoplace, multiplace, and mobile as well as those used for diving medicine. Advantages and limitations of each type of chamber are given. Various techniques of hyperbaric oxygenation (HBO) are described. A wide variety of ancillary equipment is used for monitoring of patients in the hyperbaric chamber. Safety in the hyperbaric chamber is an important consideration and regulatory issues relevant to hyperbaric medicine should be taken into consideration. Finally, there is discussion of staffing of hyperbaric facilities.
