Abstract

Reports on the use of HBO in the field of endocrinology are relatively few in number. These are based mostly on animal experimental work. Effect of HBO is described on thyroid gland, adrenocortical function, epinephrine/norepinephrine, prostaglandins, and testosterone. The most significant clinical application is in management of type 2 diabetes apart from the role in promoting healing of diabetic skin ulcers.
