Abstract
THIS LECTURE looks at bell ringing (the posh name is Tintinnalogia) which as an organized activity has been around for a long time. Indeed, an important book by Stedman on the subject was published in 1668 (two years after the Great Fire of London). As well as illustrating various sequences of changes we also look at some of the mathematical ideas behind the sequences such as permutations and other simple aspects of group theory.
