Abstract
THE THEORY OF GROUPS was largely developed in the nineteenth century and is one of the most important foundation concepts in modern mathematics. In some ways it bridges the gap between geometry and numbers. In the lecture on Bells we encountered various permutations as examples of groups and also mentioned the concept of cosets. This appendix gives a brief summary of some simple features of groups.
