Abstract
The acute respiratory distress syndrome (ARDS) remains an important cause of morbidity and mortality in intensive care units throughout the world. In this chapter, we briefly review ARDS pathogenesis and therapeutic options, and highlight the current gaps in our knowledge. This book focuses on new methodologies and experimental models that scientists interested in ARDS will find useful.
