Abstract
Healthcare will transform, encouraged by market, societal, and technological forces. During this period of disruption, new alliances will be formed, opportunities will manifest, and a greater awareness of what really matters will emerge. A clear understanding of each of the components—patients, providers, hospitals, systems, and payers—is necessary, but not sufficient, to ensure success. Lessons learned from those that have been able to adapt and prosper are elucidated and the key components of effective leadership are emphasized.
Healing is a matter of time, but it is also a matter of opportunity.
