Abstract
Pica, a disorder more typically found in childhood involving persistent ingestion of non-nutritive substances, is reviewed in this case. The diagnosis of rumination syndrome (RS)—another feeding and eating disorder that is more common in, but not limited to, children, in which ingested food is repeatedly regurgitated—is also discussed. Guidelines on assessment and management of these disorders are outlined. Updates relevant to the diagnoses of pica and RS in DSM-5 are discussed.
