Abstract

Recent research found statistically significant association between ADHD and obesity/overweight regardless of possible confounders. The pooled prevalence of obesity was increased by about 40% in children with ADHD compared with subjects without ADHD. This chapter describes the relationship between ADHD and obesity and the possible hypothesis explaining that relationship. It also provides the principals of management of adolescent patients with ADHD and obesity and describes some of the research findings of the mental health related problems associated with obesity in children and adolescents.
