Abstract

Livelihood analysis denotes income from various sources and expenditure on various heads. In Mizoram state, major source of income is tertiary sector whereas the major occupation of people is farming—agriculture and livestock. In terms of expenditure, it is the highest in clothing, healthcare and food commodities. We gathered data from the household level survey of 16 study village and observed that in many villages, expenditure is higher than income. Government subsidies in food commodities and others maintain the high expenditure ratio.
