Abstract

The chapter explores the prefix “post”, which often transfers a sign of crisis, but also represents specific temporality, which recently ended: history, ideology, industry, socialism. The prefix “post” was a structural mark of the transitology discourse that ideologically fueled the transition processes during the 1990s in the former socialist bloc. It will be argued that a nuanced conceptualization of “post” temporality can offer an alternative view to reassesses the very concept and recent historical transition itself. The text shall perform a concrete analysis of socialist Yugoslavia, which can be perceived as a transitional form with many transitory phases. Moreover, the mature period of self-management in 1960s was marked by the “market reform”, which allows to detect “post-socialism” at least two decades earlier than it is usually understood.
