Abstract

Partially edentulous patients can be safely managed with basal implants. In many favorable clinical situations requiring more than two implants, an immediately loaded functional denture using wide mono-disk Diskimplants® or plate-form Diskimplants® has proven to be a safe and reliable treatment option. When mechanical conditions are questionable, especially for atrophic jaws, a submerged technique (6-month waiting period) appears preferable. Should a problem occur during the initial functional loading period with a transitional CrCo screw-secured fixed bridge, a salvage procedure can be performed in a single session, for example, by replacing an implant by a wider implant or by adding a Diskimplant® to provide better mechanical support in dense bone.
