Abstract
Most of the investigations on shock wave interacting with a liquid droplet in literature have been on the breakup/shattering of the droplet (Engel [1], Ranger and Nicolls [2], Wierzba and Takayama [3], Joseph et al. [4], Igra and Takayama [5], and Theofanous and Li [6]). The diameter of the droplet used for previous studies had been in the order of only a few millimeters with the reason being with larger diameter droplets, the shape cannot be maintained. Hence, not all the events happening inside the droplet have been captured experimentally with clarity. A special technique has been employed in this paper to create large diameter droplet to facilitate the capturing of the events inside the droplet.
