Abstract

Upper gastrointestinal endoscopy is commonly performed for diagnosis and/or therapeutic measure for a wide variety of upper GI tract complaints/pathology. This chapter details the indications, contraindications, essential steps, common technical variations, and complications of these procedures. A detailed template operative dictation note for diagnostic upper endoscopy is included.
