Abstract
The common fibular nerve (also known as common peroneal nerve, peroneal nerve, external popliteal nerve, lateral popliteal nerve) is a mixed nerve and constitutes the lateral terminal branch of the sciatic nerve. It innervates the muscles of the anterolateral compartment of the leg and of the dorsal face of the foot, essentially through its terminal branches, the deep and superficial fibular nerves.
