Abstract
The first attempt at a national interfaith organisation, largely a female initiative driven by Lily Montagu. Obstructions from Orthodox Jewry, conversionist Christians, and the rise of some late-1930s pacifist movements. Reflections on the historiography commemorating the successor body and ignoring the Society.
