Abstract
The nervous system is responsible for controlling and coordinating most of the functions of the other organ systems. It can be divided anatomically into the central nervous system and the peripheral nervous system and functionally into the somatic nervous system and autonomic nervous system. The structure of the individual parts of the nervous system is described in this chapter.
