Abstract

Blood is a specialized type of connective tissue. Unlike the other connective tissue types, the extracellular matrix of blood is fluid. Blood consists of blood cells in a fluid extracellular matrix, called plasma. The main function of blood is to transport O2, CO2, nutrients, and wastes about in the body.
