Abstract

The book concludes by reviewing the primary findings on Smart Growth entrepreneurs. Smart Growth may be feasible with partnerships between public and private agents, considerate planning, and a flexible approach to development. The most successful projects in both Oregon and California shared these characteristics. Smart Growth, however, is still subject to broader property market patterns. For cities to develop sustainably, they must cast aside simplistic ideologies and embrace experimentation and innovation.
