Abstract
Presenting examples of playful memories in post-dictatorship Argentina, the Introduction sets out the main research questions and topics of the book. The author suggests here that the controversial tension between autofiction, trauma, play and humour in contemporary films, photography, artworks, literature, plays and blogs, many by children of disappeared and persecuted parents, have changed the panorama of mourning, remembering and representing trauma over the past decade or so by offering playful accounts of the past and of the self. The Introduction also makes clear why these artists and texts have been chosen and not others, and presents a brief description of each chapter.
