Abstract

The Quiet Man: From Story to Film’ traces the evolution of the Maurice Walsh short story to the John Ford film. It focuses on the theme of exile and return that the film explores and the short story does not. It offers a new way of seeing the film based on Ford’s insightful critique of Irish and Irish-American sensibilities.
