Abstract

Suprapubic cystostomy (or suprapubic catheterization) is a surgical procedure that creates a bladder opening to the outside. Through the hypogastric skin, along the stomy, a drainage tube is inserted into the bladder. This technique is employed to drain urine from the bladder when the normal flow of urine is interrupted. Suprapubic cystostomy is a very common, important procedure in urological practice.
