Abstract
The Skeptics: I outline the philosophy of the skeptics.
Little Big Man: Dogmatist Encounters Skeptic: I analyze the opening sequence of the movie in terms of an encounter between a dogmatist and a skeptic.
How the Skeptics Learn Skepticism: Skepticism derives from a “discovery” about a state of “peace of mind” that comes when we give up trying to have beliefs.
Moral Luck and Skepticism: In this section, I consider how moral luck contributes to Jack Crabb becoming a skeptic.
Metaphysics and Ethics: I consider how a metaphysical outlook can determine an ethical outlook.
The Ethics of Ambiguity: Skepticism seems to be a good philosophical perspective to pair with an acknowledgement of ambiguity.
The Skeptics Conversation with the World: In this section, I start to emphasize the importance of conversation to doing philosophy.
