Abstract

Man, 59 years old, never a smoker, and mildly overweight from the young age, with nearly no physical activity (his working life is sedentary as the leisure one). He knows he is hypertensive since 20 years when his GPs began to treat him with atenolol 100 mg 1 cp in the morning. He remembers that his GPs gave him this drug because he also had a mild tachycardia. During the last winter, his blood pressure further increased and his old GPs added in therapy hydrochlorothiazide 25 mg in the morning. His blood pressure is relatively well controlled with this therapy, but he comes to our observation after the suggestion of his new GP, worried about potential side effects of beta-blockers and diuretics on his erectile function.
