Abstract
This chapter describes how medical emergency teams or rapid response teams bring the critical care team to the bedside of decompensating patients. The teams at UPMC started with a single response team but grew to bring specific teams with specific personnel to critical situations. These specific teams are discussed in the chapter. Lastly, the team membership of a crisis team is depicted in a chart on Table 22.1.
