Abstract
This concluding chapter draws on the lessons learned from the research and makes policy recommendations for the general peacekeeping community to further future international discourse and action. It analyzes the operational and psychological environment that protects and perpetuates criminal misconduct among UN peacekeepers. Some practical recommendations such as tackling the economic dynamic that impoverishes women are discussed. The role that Africa can play as norm setters in ensuring accountability of its peacekeepers is suggested.

The name for this campaign is doubly clever because ‘code blue’ typically refers to the unwritten rule that exists among officers not to disclose a colleague’s errors or crimes. It also has a symbolic meaning, as it refers to the blue berets or blue helmets nomenclature of UN peacekeepers.
