Abstract

This section includes two papers published previously, each of which discusses aspects of my fieldwork in Artas. The first paper, “Who Are We For Them?”, focuses on how Artasi villagers related my presence to previous female researchers in the village, including Hilma Granqvist and Louise Baldensperger. The second paper, “Willful Overlooking,” focuses on how, while I was in the village, villagers engaged in the practice of “willful overlooking,” and my thoughts while at the wedding in Toronto of my former research assistant from the village.
