Abstract
The second chapter in Sect. 2 explores the role of immigration on Latino partisanship when immigration is primed. This chapter relies on the natural quasi experiment that occurred in 2006 while the Latino National Survey (LNS 2006) was in the field. The nationwide marches opposing H.R. 4437 heightened the importance of immigration across the country. The statistical analyses in this chapter explore whether this environmental priming of immigration was capable of increasing the impact of immigration on partisanship. While immigration preferences affected evaluations of G.W. Bush significantly, their effect on Latino partisanship was nonsignificant.
