Abstract

This chapter has briefly reviewed recent progress in the investigation of electronic structure and spin effects in various compounds such as bi-and polyradicals, paramagnetic metal complexes, molecular magnets, doped and undoped conjugated polymers and super-paramagnetic compounds. To study such systems, a whole arsenal of advanced physical methods including magnetic susceptibility, CW and pulse ESR, NMR, neutron scattering, Mossbauer spectroscopy , X-ray and photoelectron spectroscopy , resonance absorption of phonons, etc. has been used. It is a measure of the complexity of the magnetic structure of these systems that such a variety of techniques must be brought to bear. Applications and new research fields will surely continue to expand and develop from this active area of research.
