Abstract

Stent grafting for endovascular repair (EVAR) aims to treat patients with abdominal aortic aneurysms that are anatomically suitable for standard repair. EVAR has been used initially in patients with higher surgical risk with infrarenal abdominal aortic aneurysms, but is now increasingly considered a treatment of choice in anatomically suitable patients. EVAR has benefitted from ongoing technical refinements and accumulating clinical experience. Correct indication, accurate preoperative planning, and meticulous execution are the key to long-term success. Considering the growing interest in EVAR worldwide, including the United States, we discuss current indications on the basis of the local and international guidelines and the senior authors’ 20 years of experience.
