Abstract
The establishment and development of the official Comparative and International Education Society (CIES) Archive three and a half decades ago is a crucial part of CIES history and a cause for celebration. The existence of an official archive is a mark of distinction for a professional organization. It signifies that the organization has been properly and solidly institutionalized, and, more importantly, that the field and people it represents have a sense of institutional memory.
