Abstract

Within these book chapters we find themes that can be used when considering science teacher, and science teacher educator development. We have found that there is a theme of voice—that of the instructor as well as the student. A major theme is that of identity—the very identity of the science teacher educator is changed and developed through the self-study practices we have encountered in the chapters. Additionally, it is clear to see that critical friends played a key role in helping the science teacher educators confront any weaknesses and aided them in resolving any perceived weakness to improve their instruction for their students. The self-study practices influenced the instructors rather than solely the students, but from change in instructor came change in students.
