Abstract

The knee is an accessible and relatively anatomically straightforward joint for ultrasonographic assessment. In this chapter, the nine standard anatomical views are discussed and demonstrated, along with tips to obtain and optimize these images. There follows a review of general pathologic findings with a focus on structures specific to the knee. Disease-specific findings at the knee, such as those of rheumatoid arthritis and osteoarthritis, are discussed, as well as reliability of ultrasound, some of the scoring systems, and indications and use of ultrasound for knee injections.
