Abstract
In the face of rising connectivity services in the car, automotive manufactures need to perform field drive testing to ensure performance and reliability over the lifecycle of the vehicle. As the testing environment is hardly reproducible; troubleshooting of events which occur only randomly during drive testing scenarios typically requires extensive repetition of the field drive tests. These challenges intensify the need for a test solution to quickly and effectively deploy new online services. Virtual Drive Testing bridges the gap between lab and field testing through real-world emulation of network environment in the lab. The solution presented here comes with significant cost reductions to the development and deployment phases. It reduces the amount of field testing by using a repeatable lab-based testing methodology.
