Abstract
Musical instruments are part of historical heritage of humanity, and they need to be preserved and used for performances. This book deals with the core question of Material Science relating to string instruments of the classical symphony orchestra which are the violin family instruments, the guitar, the harp and the piano. The concepts and methods discussed are recent advances in the field. The outline of the book is discussed in this chapter.
