Abstract

Pancreatic cystic neoplasms (PCNs) consist of a range of pancreatic tumors that have different morphological, histological, and clinical characteristics. The number of patients with PCNs has increased over the years as a result of improved imaging. PCNs range from benign lesions with a very low potential for malignancy to those with aggressive behavior. The management of PCNs may be challenging since surgery or long-term follow-up is needed in most of the patients. An advanced age may further complicate the surgical treatment in some of these patients with high morbidity and mortality risk. Therefore, safe and effective minimally invasive interventions as an alternative option to surgical resection are warranted.
