Abstract
For the next few days, Issaka Dia received no visitors. But suddenly on a Sunday, his strength returned. He wanted to see people. At first, only a trickle of well-wishers flowed into the compound. By Tuesday, the trickle had become a flood, people standing in line to pay their respects. In the afternoons, the wait was more than two hours. The family gave the well-wishers plenty of water and millet gruel and insisted that the older people sit in the shade while they waited.
