Abstract
When Abdoulaye and Omar returned to Tillaberi that afternoon, they showed their farmer friend to his guest quarters. Then they bathed. In the late afternoon, Abdoulaye and Omar lounged on long leather pillows that they had placed under a thatched canopy, the shady space where musicians positioned themselves during spirit possession ceremonies. As they chewed on kola nut, their father’s co-wife, Maymouna, approached.
