Abstract
As cardiovascular disease is the number one cause of death in the United States, this chapter reviews most cardiovascular pathologies encountered in the ICU. Special consideration is given to ischemic heart disease, unstable angina, and myocardial infarction. This chapter also revises congestive heart failure and cardiomyopathies. The classification and management of thoracic aneurysms and hypertensive crises are also reviewed.
