Abstract

To understand restless legs syndrome (RLS), it is important to understand in a fundamental way the five diagnostic clinical features (see Table 1.1). Ultimately, RLS has one key symptom: a need or urge to move that is usually associated with unpleasant feelings in the legs. The other diagnostic features say when this symptom occurs and what can relieve it. An acronym to remember this is “URGES”:
