Abstract
This chapter will comprehensively address renal emergencies beginning with acute and chronic renal insufficiency along with its diagnosis and treatment. Causes of renal failure are discussed in detail from glomerular to tubular causes of the process. Rhabdomyolysis and its diagnosis and management are detailed as well as other causes of chronic renal failure. Emergencies related to hemodialysis are detailed as well as management. Infections of the genitourinary tract are highly detailed and specific and range from simple urinary tract infections to sexually transmitted diseases. This chapter will additionally provide the learner with information regarding laboratory assessment if required as well as with information regarding imaging (if required) that is essential for passing examinations.
