Abstract
This chapter will comprehensively address orthopedic emergencies beginning with an essential anatomy review, followed by disorders of the hand and wrist including soft tissue infections and fractures. Forearm fractures and other soft tissue disorders are next discussed. This is followed by the elbow and the rest of the upper arm inflammatory disease followed by infections and abscess in and around the vaginal area. Infectious joint issues are detailed in a graphical format. Lower extremity injuries and decision rules are explained. Back pain red flags are discussed, and finally, rheumatologic conditions are detailed. This chapter will additionally provide the learner with information regarding laboratory assessment if required as well as with information regarding imaging (if required) that is essential for passing examinations.
