Abstract
Ischemic heart disease constitutes the most demanding area of diagnostic imaging in Cardiology. CMR provides a body of information that includes those aspects which, besides coronary artery anatomy, every clinical cardiologist wants to know about in every patient (i.e.: contractile function, presence and extent of myocardial necrosis, potential for myocardial viability, and inducible ischemia). This makes CMR a truly comprehensive test which has to be carefully planned. Specific CMR strategies are detailed in this chapter that allow the most relevant information to be obtained at every stage of the disease, along with clues for its adequate interpretation.
