Abstract
This chapter presents the views of contemporary participants living on St. Croix on Indian indenture on the island. A cross-section of individuals was interviewed for their views on indenture. The purpose of this approach was not to rely solely on printed material to analyze indenture. Although information was limited since traces of the descendants were difficult to find, some original sources and unexpected and previously unheard voices, and in particular, a few photographs of actual indentured servants never seen before are provided to enhance and enrich the historiography of indentured Indians on Danish St. Croix.
