Abstract
In this chapter, I will outline some basics about neurons and how they can communicate with each other (see Sect. 2.1). In the following section, I will report some brief notes about different kinds of in vitro neuronal preparations (see Sect. 2.2). Then I will present an overview about the state-of-the-art of electrophysiological techniques focusing on in vitro applications (see Sect. 2.3).
