Abstract

This chapter focuses on the methodological decisions made in a study of extra lessons in Jamaica, and comments on choices and dilemmas during the research process. It begins with the research questions, and continues to the mixed-methods design. Subsequent sections focus on lessons learned in the instrument design, sampling, data collection, the stage of interface, disconfirming findings, and other methodological challenges.
