Abstract
Tracheobronchomalacia is the weakness of the supporting cartilages of the trachea and main-stem bronchi, resulting in collapsibility during the respiratory cycle. In comparison, excessive dynamic airway collapse refers to the dynamic invagination of the posterior membrane during expiration. Both conditions can coexist in the same patient and frequently result in significant morbidity and decrease in quality of life. Herein, we describe the current definitions, classification, and clinical and radiologic evaluation of the patients considered for the therapeutic interventions that include airway stent trial and tracheoplasty.
